The Portland Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram surveyed day-care licensing programs around the country and compiled information from 28 states.The research found that of the states looked at, Maine has the third highest caseload for day-care licensing inspectors. Maine was also one of only two states reporting that no day-care licenses were revoked in 1997. Three other states did not supply information on revocations.
