MOOSE RIVER: Three re-elected, with better pay
Maine Sunday Telegram Sunday, March 25, 2007

All three incumbent selectmen were returned to office unopposed Friday night in annual town meeting voting, and they'll be paid better for it.

Sterling "Bill" Reed was re-elected first selectman; James Smyth, second selectman; and Harald Moore, third selectman.

"Everything passed," Reed said. "The only thing that changed is that the selectmen got a raise."

Reed said the article for the selectmen's salaries was amended to make the annual salaries $1,300 each for the second and third selectmen and $2,900 for the first selectman.

Newly appointed town clerk and tax collector Dawn Amaya will get $8,000 per year.

In other voting from the floor, Clarence Begin was elected to the School Administrative District 12 board for a three-year term.

Reed said voters approved spending about $150,000 for 2007, not including spending for the schools and the town's share of the Somerset County budget.
