LIMERICK: Funds to complete town's revaluation
By Melanie Creamer Maine Sunday Telegram Sunday, March 11, 2007

About 100 residents approved an estimated $971,000 municipal budget at Saturday's town meeting.
Residents voted to spend roughly $162,000 to rebuild and repair highways and bridges, and $175,000 for tarring roads. Voters also decided to raise and appropriate $70,000 for structural repairs needed at the brick town hall. The repairs include making the building handicapped-accessible.
Residents voted to raise $37,000 to complete a town revaluation.
Selectman Dean LePage said the meeting went well and the town is heading in a good fiscal direction.
"I think we are in good shape," he said. "We are having a revaluation completed this year. It should equalize the tax burden of all the properties in Limerick. We were due."
LePage, who has completed his first year on the board, said he was nervous about sitting in front of everyone at the start of the meeting.
"This is like the purest form of democracy in action. It's interesting and exciting to watch the debate and be a part of it," he said.
"We have a cooperative Board of Selectmen that have the best interests of the town."
