Voters gave selectmen permission to begin the search for an administrative assistant during Saturday's annual town meeting and approved $6,500 to fund the effort.
Voters also approved $27,500 for a six-month salary reserve.
About 150 residents attended the meeting, which also saw voters approve a town budget of $662,115, almost $7,000 more than the original proposal.
Selectwoman Heather Moody was re-elected, although challengers forced a second run-off vote. With four candidates for one selectman's position, no one captured the 50 percent support required to win the seat in the first round of voting.
Two school board members were re-elected -- Kimberly Jordan to a one-year term and Judith Dill to a three-year term.
The Fire Department received $2,500 to buy a hydraulic extrication tool and $10,000 was added to the Community Planning and Development Fund.
