Voters gave the go-ahead for a new children's swimming pool and OK'd borrowing $134,000 to buy a new firetruck during two town meetings Saturday.
The town's decision to switch from a Jan. 1-Dec. 31 fiscal year to one that will run from July 1 through June 30 required the town to hold two town meetings. The first meeting was to consider a budget to carry the town through the first six months of the year. The second considered a budget for the year that will run from July 1 through June 30, 2008. Ý
Voters at the second meeting approved a motion to accept the entire warrant as written before considering any articles individually. The motion carried, 27-10, and residents began heading for the door.Ý
It was the first time in town history voters had not discussed individual articles.Ý
Residents approved $53,000, $18,000 of which already has been saved, to build an in-ground swimming pool off Crosby Street at the site of an old skating rink near Hartland Consolidated School.
