Valedictorian Trevor Sage - Trevor is the son of Lisa and David Sage. Trevor played soccer and hockey, and was awarded the Maine class A Hockey Association All - Academic Award. He's also been awarded the Massabesic Merit Award and has achieved high honors. Trevor plans to attend UMO, MIT, or USM to study physics.
Salutatorian Ethan Lamb - Ethan is the son of Bruce and Mona Lamb of Shapleigh. Ethan played varsity Basketball and Soccer, and was captain of the Soccer team his Junior and Senior years. He has been awarded the Academic All - State team for varsity Basketball, SMAA Academic team for varsity Soccer, Most improved player for Basketball, and the Dartmouth Book Award. He has also achieved honor and high honor roll throughout high school. Ethan plans to attend the University of Vermont, Cornell University, or UMO to study wildlife biology.
Honor Essayist Ashley Moulton - Ashley is the daughter of Curtis and Shirley Moulton of Shapleigh. Ashley played Lacrosse and Field Hockey all four years of high school. She was awarded the SMAA Academic Athlete Award and Most Improved player in Field Hockey. She is also a State Champion in Lacrosse. Ashley has participated in many community service activities such as tutoring at her local elementary school, volunteering at Goodall Hospital, Pee Wee Basketball games, youth lacrosse, Alfred Festival Days, and Cyro Children's Christmas Parties. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. Ashley has received ten awards for the highest average in several of her classes and perfect attendance her freshmen year. Ashley plans to attend UNE to major in chemistry.
Katie Beyea - Katie is the daughter of Roger and Amy Beyea of Shapleigh. She has been on the Swim team, participated in Chorus, Chamber Singers, Dance, Kung Fu, Tai Chi and is a member of the National Honor Society. Katie volunteered at the YMCA giving swimming lessons to children. Katie plans to attend the University of Maine in Farmington to study elementary education.
Ike Brochu - Ike is the son of Margaret Brochu of Alfred, and Marc Brochu of Acton. Ike has been a member of Natural Helpers, and the National Honor Society, which he was the president of. Ike has also participated in Wrestling, Track, and Cross Country. Ike has been awarded the Horatio Alger Association 2008 Scholar Award, the Maine's Principal Award, DAR Award, and Colby College Book Award. He has also attended Dirigo Boy's State where he was a state delegate. Ike has taken part in many community service activities such as youth wrestling, Christmas at Save Haven, and a student aid for special needs gym class. Ike plans to attend Emmanuel College to major in Neuroscience.
Allyson Buckbee - Allyson is the daughter of Mark Buckbee of Harpswell, and Lisa Buckbee of Alfred. She has played Lacrosse and Field Hockey all four years of high school. Allyson is a state champion in Lacrosse. She was awarded the SMAA Academic All - American Award in both sports. Allyson was class president her sophomore year, and is a member of the Leo Club. She has participated in many service activities such as tutoring at MJHS, Raise the Roof for Relief, White Cane Day, Breakfast with Santa, Drug Awareness days, and helping with special needs children. Allyson plans to attend either the University of Vermont, or the University Colorado.
Angelissa Burns Lewie - Angelissa is the daughter David and Mikyong Burns of Alfred. She has achieved honor roll, and French awards. She has also volunteered at Alfred Festival Days and Pee - Wee games. Angelissa plans to attend USM to study Elementary Education and Business.
Falichia Burns - Falichia has played Field Hockey for four years of high school and Lacrosse for two years. She has volunteered at Alfred Elementary and achieved honor and high honor roll. Falichia plans to attend University of Hartford.
Christopher Chute - Christopher is the son of Dan and Kathy Chute of Newfield. He has played football throughout high school and received the All SMAA Academic award. Christopher has also received several awards in school for the highest GPA in classes.
Each year he has participated in the American Math Competition, scoring highest at Massabesic his sophomore year. Christopher plans on attending Lafayette College in Pennsylvania to study biology.
Michelle Comeau - Michelle is the daughter of Michael and Karen Comeau of Alfred. She was a captain of the Soccer and Swim team. Michelle also played Lacrosse and was part of the state champion team. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a former member of Leo Club. Michelle also swam for the USA swim team and Sanford YMCA Titans swim team. She has been awarded the SMAA Academic Athletic Award for Soccer & Swimming, MVP for swimming two years in a row, and selected for the All - Star second - team for high school swimming. Michelle also gave her time in many volunteer activities such as an adaptive physical education leader, and Massabesic Middle School swim team assistant. Michelle plans to attend High Point University in North Carolina.
Megan Dupuis - Megan is the daughter of Susan Dupuis. She has volunteered at Alfred Elementary her senior year. She was awarded first team all Conference Defender for Class A Lacrosse in 2007 and was part of the 2007 Lacrosse State Championship. Megan earned a spot on the SMAA All - Academic Team and was awarded Most Improved Player in 2006 for Basketball. She has been on honor roll all four years, and high honors her senior year. Megan plans to attend University of Alaska Fairbanks for aviation maintenance and will earn her private pilots license and become a Bush Pilot.
Joshua R. Eon - Joshua is the son of Sandra Cadorette and Robert Eon II of Lyman. He has been a State Champion in Wrestling three times and MVP three times. He has also been awarded SMAA All - Academic team and SMAA first team. Joshua was the Journal Tribune Wrestler of the year. He has also played football throughout high school. He has been Outstanding Defense Lineman, SMAA All - Academic team, All State Nose Guard, and First Team all SMAA. He plans to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute to major in mechanical engineering.
Sarah Hussey - Sarah is the daughter of Keith and Colleen Gerry of Waterboro. She has participated in Soccer, of which she was the captain. Sarah also was a member of the Relay for Life and the National Honor Society. She was a volunteer at Waterboro Elementary School in the 3rd grade class. Sarah plans to attend St. JosephÕs College to major in Nursing.
Gregory Johnson Ð Gregory is the son of Donald and Elizabeth Johnson of Waterboro. He has run cross - country throughout his high school years. His senior year he played rugby. Greg also enjoys competitively skiing for cross - country. Greg has been a member of the student council at the charter school he attended his Junior year. He also played a very instrumental role in creating a program through which similar schools could communicate, alleviating many residential issues. Greg has numerous community service hours, serving in the outdoors and assisting those in need. He plans to attend the University of Maine and study Biochemistry.
Nicole LeBlanc - Nicole is the daughter of Michele and Rodney Boucher of Limerick, and Joseph Donnelly of Ellsworth. She has participated in Soccer, Basketball, Track, and Boxing. Nicole is a former Leo Club member and part of Student Council. She is also active In Community service activities. She also was a people to people sports ambassador. She has been awarded All - Academic First Team in Basketball, Academic achievement awards in gym, health, and Physical Education Leader. Nicole Plans to attend Simmons College to major in Nutrition. She also plans to obtain a masters degree.
Samantha Leach - Samantha is the daughter of Kevin and Wendy Leach of Shapleigh. Samantha has participated and has been captain on the Field Hockey, Basketball, and Track teams. She has been awarded SMAA All - Academic Team, and SMAA high school Basketball senior girl's all - star team selection. She is a former member of Massabesic high school's Leadership Academy, and a current member of The National Honor Society. Samantha has also taken part in several community service activities such as a teacher's assistant, a drug awareness days facilitator, special education volunteer, Special Olympics, and a mission trip to Raleigh, North Carolina. Samantha plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington to major in elementary education; her goal is to purse a career in teaching.
Nicole Leveillee - Nicole is the daughter of Roger and Gloria Leveillee of Limerick. Nicole has participated in Soccer, Swimming, and Lacrosse. She is also a State Champion in Lacrosse. Nicole is a member of The National Honor Society and has completed a work study involving chemistry. She has taken part in many leadership programs including Maine Youth Leadership, National Youth Leadership on Law, National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, Dirigo Girl's State, and Massabesic Leadership Academy. Nicole has been involved in several community service activities such as volunteering at concessions stands, awareness days junior facilitator, Strive! Center, and Raise the Roof for Relief. She has achieved honor roll and has been awarded SMAA Academic All - American in Lacrosse, Swimming, and Soccer. Nicole will be attending University of Connecticut.
Wesley Lyon - Wesley is the son of Donald and Karen Lyon of Limerick. Wesley was a member of the Soccer team and the Massabesic Atmosphere Research Study. He has been awarded the AP Scholar Award, German 3 award, and Chemistry award. Wesley also participated in Operation Catapult at Rose - Hulman Institute of Technology. Wesley plans to attend Rose - Hulman Institute if Technology.
Michelle Margolis - Michelle is the daughter of Mark and Patricia Margolis of Shapleigh. She has participated in Field Hockey and Track. Michelle is also a member of Leo Club, and The National Honor Society which she was secretary of. Michelle has also attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. She has taken part in many community service activities such as tutoring at her local elementary school, white cane day, Pee - Wee Basketball games, and volunteering at Goodall Hospital. Michelle plans to attend Emmanuel College to major in psychology.
Tyler A. Morin Ð Tyler is the son of John and Louise Morin of Alfred. Tyler has participated in wrestling, basketball, math team, and football. A four - year participant and three - year letter winner in football, he also was selected to the SMAA all conference first team as a defensive back and a member of the all - academic team. He was an honorable mention Maine Sunday Telegram All State player and recently received the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame scholar - athlete award. Earlier this year Tyler was Massabesic's selection for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award and was one of the 10 semi - finalists for the state of Maine. The University of Southern Maine Book Award winner, Tyler has achieved honor roll status for eight quarters and high honors for three. He was inducted into the Massabesic chapter of the National Honor Society this past December. Tyler has been active in a variety of community service activities including Massabesic Area Youth Football, Massabesic Area Youth Wrestling, and the York County Shelter. He is an active member the South Waterboro Bible Chapel where he assists with the nursery, youth church instruction, and service to elderly members. Tyler will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute next fall majoring in Chemistry. His plans are to enter the engineering, medical, or research field.
Timothy Morrison - Timothy is the son of Paul and Ellen Morrison of Alfred. Timothy has been active in the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Massabesic High School. He earned the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and in the Operations Officer of the unit. He has been involved with NJROTC drill team for four years. Timothy has been part of the color guard along with the armed and unarmed regulation teams. He is also a member of The National Honor Society. Timothy has also been very active at Curtis Lake Christian Church, working in Sunday school, VBS, and Christmas & Easter play sets. He has also helped in the building of a church in San Pedro Sula Honduras this past summer with his church. Timothy has obtained over 700 hours of community service throughout high school. He has received 25 NJROTC awards, the Massabesic Lion's Club Youth Recognition Award, and a Citizen Award from the Secretary of State. He has been nominated twice for the 6 alive Community Service Award, has been recognized by the American Legion and the Military order if the World War Veterans for his service. Timothy plans to attend Norwich University to study to be an architect.
Katherine Pierce - Katherine is the daughter of Robert and Susan Pierce of Alfred. Katherine has participated in Soccer, and was the captain of the Cross - Country team, Swim Team, and Track & Field. She has been MVP for swimming all four years, and holds records in Swim and Track. Katherine is a member of Leo Club, and The National Honor Society. She has achieved honor roll all four years of high school and was awarded the Phi Beta Kappa award. Katherine has volunteered her time giving swim lessons at the YMCA, for the Massabesic Middle School swim team, and the York County Hebrew School. Katherine will be attending Lehigh University in Pennsylvania where she will be running Division 1 Cross Country and indoor/outdoor Track Teams. She will be studying architecture.
Nicole Poulin - Nicole is the daughter of Paul and Gina Poulin of Lyman. She played softball for two years. Nicole also achieved the highest grade in accounting 1 & 2 and intro to business. She also volunteers at a daycare. Nicole will be attending Southern Maine Community College and hopes to become an accountant or retail manager.
Chelsea Sanders - Chelsea is the daughter of Mark and Tonya Sanders of North Waterboro. Chelsea has been involved in many organizations such as Odyssey of the Mind, the Civil Rights Team, SIIRO, GSA, MASAT, The National Honor Society, Amnesty International which she was Vice President of, and NJROTC Drill Team that she was the Commander of. Chelsea plans on opening an ice - cream shop this summer, and to attend Hawaii Pacific University in the fall.
Kristen Stearns - Kristen is the daughter of Richard and JoAnn Stearns of Lyman. She has been involved in many activities such as NJROTC, Drama, Chamber Singers, Chorus, District 1 Music Festival, All State Music Festival, The National Honor Society, G.T, and NJROTC Leadership Academy. Kristen has received many awards in NJROTC including Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Medal, Military Order of World Wars, Sons of the American Revolution Award, AFJROTC Math & Science Award. She has also held leadership positions, Cadet Development Officer and Company Commander. She was also awarded a silver cord from the NJROTC Leadership Academy. Kristen plans to attend USM to major in music education. She would like to teach choir at either a high school or college level, along with private lessons. Kristen would also like to perform vocally.
Tawni Turotte - Tawni is the daughter of Christine and Michael Turcotte of North Waterboro. She has been awarded the highest grades for Spanish I, II, & III, English, Mythology, and Sociology. She plans to attend Franklin Pierce University to major in English.
Samantha Vaznis - Samantha is the daughter of Rick and Maureen Vaznis of Waterboro. For the past two years she has been a member of the yearbook staff. She has also been involved in the school's recycling program and helping with special need students. Samantha is a member of The National Honor Society. Samantha plans to attend USM to study education. She hopes to become an elementary school teacher.
Nickolaus Willard - Nikolaus is the son of Jonathan and Nicole Willard of Waterboro. He has participated in Tennis and was the captain of the Soccer and Swim teams. Nickolaus has also been a member of Math Team, The National Honor Society, Natural Helpers. Eco Club, Amnesty International, and Leo Club, which he was Treasurer. He was the Vice President of his class his freshmen year. He has completed over 75 hours of community service. Nickolaus also participated in Academic Decathlon where he placed first for his team, and was a captain. Nickolous plans to attend St. Michael's College and obtain a bachelor degree in something he enjoys.
