HANNAH BUTLER DEBLOIS, daughter of Mark and Rachel DeBlois of Newcastle, is Valedictorian of the Class of 2008. She has been active on the Civil Rights Team; Performing and Visual Arts Society; International Club, and has participated in athletics as part of the Cross Country Team. Her awards include the AP Scholar Award; National Merit Scholar Finalist; and placing 1st in the State in the National Spanish Exam. She was chosen as a participant in the New England Young Writers Conference. Hannah has performed community service at the Coastal Humane Society, Good Shepherd Food Bank, and the Nobleboro Central School Enrichment Program. She is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Bowdoin College in Brunswick, majoring in History and Spanish.

THOMAS MATRAI BALCH, son of William Balch and Patricia Matrai of Newcastle, has been active in the International Club, Alpha Sigma Gamma, Math Team, Drama Productions, Coastal Youth Orchestra, and the Lincoln Academy Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. Athletically, he is a member of the Varsity Cross Country Team, Varsity Track Team, Swim Team, and the Ultimate Frisbee Team. Thomas was the recipient of the 2008 Maine Principals Award, and was selected by the American Legion to Boys State at Thomas College in 2007. He has performed community service with the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association, Alpha Sigma Gamma, as well as volunteering as a Technology Assistant at Lincoln Academy. Thomas is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, majoring in Engineering.
ROBERT GEORGE BARNUM, son of Wilton and Ellen Barnum of Nobleboro, is active in LA Theater; the Civil Rights Team; and the Goja-rya Karate at the CLC YMCA. He participated in the National Spanish Exam, in both Level II and III, placing 11th in the State. Robert has also received a National Merit Letter of Commendation. He has performed community service at the Damariscotta River Association Archeology Field School, the Bigelow Lab Keller Bloom Project, as well as organizing the Sustainable Harvest International Benefit Concert. He is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Colby College in Waterville, majoring in Anthropology.
DEREK KENDALL BASCOM, son of Fay Bascom of Round Pond and Kendall Bascom of Nobleboro, has been active in Peer Tutors. He was the recipient of the Excellence in Spanish Award. Derek performed community service during the summer of 2007 as he traveled to Honduras with other volunteers from all over the United States, providing training in land-use practices, building adobe housing, digging irrigation ditches and other manual labor to assist families. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and plans to attend Honors College at the University of Maine at Orono, double-majoring in Biology and English.
LUKE MARTIN BRECKENRIDGE, son of Robert and Maria Breckenridge of Newcastle, has been active in Alpha Sigma Gamma, the Civil Rights Team, serving as the Secretary for the last three years; Student Council, serving at President in Grades 10 and 11; and a member of the Math Team since freshmen year, being the team high-scorer during his Junior year. He has also been active in athletics on the Cross Country Team and the Tennis Team. Luke is a piano student and plays classical and jazz music. He was named an AP Scholar with Honors, was selected by the American Legion to attend Boys State at Thomas College in 2007, and was the winner of the Achorn Prize Speaking Contest this past April. He has performed community service in his work with both Alpha Sigma Gamma and the Student Council as well as volunteering for the Community Energy Fund, the Chocolate Festival, and shoveling driveways. Luke has not yet decided which college he will attend, but he will major in Mathematics and Political Science.
PETER CHRISTIAN BROOKS, son of Cordelia Goth Brooks of Bremen and Frank Brooks of Austin, Texas, has been active as a Student Tutor and Freshmen Homeroom Mentor. He has been a member of the Baseball Team since his freshman year. Peter has been the recipient of the Spanish Achievement Award and the Foreign Language Excellence Award. He has performed community service with the Homework Club and the Thanksgiving Food Drive. Peter is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending the University of Maine at Orono Honors Program, majoring in Pre-Med/Psychology.
KEVIN DONALD CONANT, son of Scott and Debra Conant of Damariscotta, has been active on the Varsity Soccer Team, Varsity Track Team, and Varsity Lacrosse Team. He received the 1st Team All-Conference Award, All-Academic Team Award, and MVP Award, as well as the Presidents Scholarship, and the National Co-op Scholarship. Kevin was the recipient of the Best Design for Architectural Drafting Award, and the Lincoln Academy Science Book Award. He has performed community service as a Peer Tutor. Kevin will be attending the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Massachusetts majoring in Architecture.
COORAIN WALCH DEVIN, son of Michael and Laura Devin of Newcastle, has been active as Vice President of the Student Council, and Editor-in-Chief of the Student Newspaper, ÒBlack & WhiteÓ. He is also a member of the Civil Rights Team, Alpha Sigma Gamma, LA Theater, and the Performing and Visual Arts Society. Corey was selected to represent Lincoln Academy at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Fall Regional Conference at Columbia University, and was chosen to participate in the BiomedWorks Program for the Foundation of Blood Research. He won the Damariscotta/Newcastle 4-Way Speech Contest as well as the Lions Club Speak-Out Competition. Corey has performed community service by volunteering at the Miles Memorial Hospital Rummage Sale, and through his work with the Student Council by participating in Daffodil Days and several blood drives. He is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Tufts University in Massachusetts, possibly majoring in Chemistry.
SHELBY ROSE FAUX, daughter of George and Melody Faux of Newcastle, has played Varsity Field Hockey and served as captain of the team. She also served as manager of the Boys Basketball Team. Shelby is a member of the International Club, Performing and Visual Arts Society, and is Vice President of the Class of 2008. She was the recipient of the KVAC All-Academic Award. She has performed community service as a participant in the Annual Breast Cancer Walk, and as a ÒBigÓ for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Shelby is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Maine Maritime Academy, majoring in International Business and Logistics.
WILL ALEX GOTH, son of Paul and Brenda Goth of Bristol, has been active in Varsity Soccer, serving as team captain in 2007; Varsity Track; and year-round Club Soccer. He was awarded the NMSC Commended Student, the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Scholarship, and is a College Board AP Scholar. He was the September 2007 Student of the Month; Soccer Team Co-MVP, and KVAC All-Conference 1st Team. He has volunteered his time refereeing soccer at the CLC YMCA, and helped at the Miles Memorial Hospital Rummage Sale for the last two years. Will also organized Lincoln Academy indoor soccer for the last three years. He will be attending Northeastern University in Massachusetts, majoring in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering.
KAITLIN NICOLE HANNA, daughter of Chad and Mary Hanna of Round Pond, has been active in International Club; Performing Arts Club; Civil Rights Team; LA Players; and Lincolnaires. She is also active in the Lincoln County Community Theater; Theater of the Spirits; and Full Circle Dance Studio. Kaitlin received the Wellesley Book Award and Math/Science Achievement recognition. She has volunteered at Lowernine.org which provides relief to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, and has also volunteered at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, as well as a ÒBigÓ for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Kaitlin is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Wheaton College in Massachusetts, majoring in Pre-Med/Biology.
STEPHANIE ANN HEWITT, daughter of David and Mary Hewitt of Newcastle, has been active in Varsity Soccer and Varsity Basketball. She served as the Girls Varsity Softball Manager all four years at Lincoln Academy. She is a member of the International Club, and was on the Prom Committee during her junior year. Stephanie is Secretary of the Class of 2008. She received the Geometry Award in 2006, was voted most active in the junior class in 2007, and was KVAC All-Academic twice. She volunteers her time at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, as a Peer Tutor, and in the Homework Club. Stephanie is also a ÒBigÓ for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and a referee for pee-wee soccer and basketball. She is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending the University of New England in Biddeford, majoring in Elementary Education and Psychology.
ROBERT LANGTON, son of Richard and Beth Langton of Edgecomb, has been active on the Math Team; Science Olympiad; Alpha Sigma Gamma; and the Performing and Visual Arts Society. In athletics, he is a member of the Golf Team and the Varsity Lacrosse Team. Robert is a PADI Dive Master with SCUBA certification, and is also an alpine skier and water skier. He was the recipient of the Maine Innovational 4th Place Math Team Award, placed 6th in the Letters from Literature Award, and won the National Yale Book Award. Robert has volunteered his time in numerous ways; he built a sidewalk in Costa Rica; cleared trails on the Schmidt Preserve in Edgecomb; organized a dinner to benefit local organic community farms; assembled art bags for local needy children; donated venison to local need families through ÒHunters for the HungryÓ; and volunteered at ÒTrek Across MaineÓ to benefit the American Lung Association. He is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, majoring in Electrical Engineering.
MARY MARGARET LEEMAN, daughter of Scott and Jenny Leeman of Round Pond, has been active in Varsity Lacrosse; Varsity Cheerleading, serving as captain for the last two years; and Level 8 Gymnastics, where she was the 2006 State and Northeast Regional Gymnastics Level 5 All-Around Champion, and 2008 State Level 8 Gymnastics Runner-up on beam. She is a member of the Student Council; Math Team; and Performing and Visual Arts Society. Mary is also a member of the WPI Frontiers Summer Biology Program, Maine State Board of Education Youth Forum, and Girl Scouts. As a cheerleader she received two Coaches Awards, two MVPÕs and was NCA All-American Cheerleader. She is also a member of the ÒLÓ Club, receiving ten varsity letters and KVAC All-American. She has been the recipient of the Williams College Book Award; AP Scholar; Excellence in Geometry, Algebra II/Trig, and Pre-Calculus Award; Excellence in Spanish II and III; and in the National Spanish Exam placed 16th in Maine Level 2, 2nd in Maine Level 3, and 4th in Maine Level 4. She has performed community service participating in the Blood Drive and Food Drive; teaching youth gymnastics at the CLC YMCA Summer Camp; built sidewalks in Costa Rica; put together thanksgiving baskets; and volunteered at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter. Mary is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish.
EMILY MAE MORRIS, daughter of Walter and Mary Morris of Jefferson, has been active on the Varsity Lacrosse Team all four years, serving as team captain. She is also a member of the Performing and Visual Arts Society; Art Club; Peer Mediators; Senior Mentors; and was on the Prom Committee during her junior year. Emily has participated in a Self-Defense Tournament, and is a member and secretary of the Fire Explorers. She was the December 2007 Student of the Month, was the recipient of the Science Award during her sophomore year, and has participated in the National Spanish Exam. Emily volunteers her time with Jefferson Fire and Rescue, Jefferson Village School functions, and has been volunteering at the New Hope Church for more than ten years. She was awarded the Community Pin for raising funds for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts through the Fire Explorers. Emily will be attending Central Maine Community College in Auburn, majoring in Architecture with a minor in Civil Engineering.
SARAH NATALIE PENDLETON, daughter of Scott and Wendy Pendleton of New Harbor, has been active on the Varsity Soccer, Varsity Basketball, and Varsity Track Teams. She is a member of the Methodist Youth Group, and is the Treasurer of the Class of 2008. She received the Award for Excellence in Honors Geometry, Advanced Algebra II/Trig, Science, and French II. She placed 20th in Maine in the National French Exam Level II. She was selected by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State at Husson College in 2007. Sarah volunteers her time as a firefighter with Bristol Fire and Rescue, as a Page at the 2006 Republican Convention, and as a ÒBigÓ for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending the University of New England in Biddeford, majoring in Laboratory Sciences.
RENEE DANIELLE SKINNER, daughter of Lawrence and Carla Skinner of Nobleboro, has been active in Varsity Soccer and Varsity Softball. She received the KVAC All-Academic Team Award, Most Improved Student Award, and Excellence in Geometry Award. She has performed community service as a member of the Homework Club, and worked as a volunteer with youth sports at YMCA and Little League Softball. She has also done volunteer work at the Lincoln Home. Renee is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, majoring in Business Management and Marketing.
LARISSA ASHLYN SYKES, daughter of Yvonne Morrison of Jefferson and Aaron Sykes, has received the Excellence in Algebra I and Excellence in Algebra II/Trig Awards, and placed 10th in the State in the National Spanish Exam for Level II. She has performed community service by helping in the clean-up of Damariscotta Lake Beach in Jefferson. Larissa will be attending the University of New England in Biddeford, and has not yet decided on a major.
EMILY MAE WELLS, daughter of Christopher and Melinda Wells of Bremen, has been active in Varsity Field Hockey and as Manager of the Indoor Track Team. She is also a member of the International Club on the leadership council, and the Math Team. She plays both the flute and the piano and was a member of the Spare Change Jazz Band in 2007. Emily was the recipient of the Ruth Ives Humanitarian Award during her junior year. She has volunteered her time at Miles Memorial Hospital, Midcoast Hospital, and in New Orleans this past February. She is also a ÒBigÓ for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Emily will be attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, majoring in Chemistry.
KELLY ELIZABETH WARD, daughter of Stephen Ward of Edgecomb and Ellen Ward of Newcastle, has been active in Theater, International Club, Performing and Visual Arts Society, and is on staff at the ÒBlack & WhiteÓ school newspaper. She received the KVAC Scholar Award. She has volunteered her time at the Civil Rights Team fundraisers, and at the Lincoln County Community Theater. Kelly is a member of the National Honor Society, and has not yet decided which college she will attend, but she will major in International Studies/Theater/Journalism.
JENNIFER MARIE WILLIS, daughter of Suzanne Willis of Newcastle and William Willis, has been active in the Student Council; Performing and Visual Arts Society; Lincoln Academy Wind Ensemble and Concert Band; Jazz Band; Coastal Youth Orchestra; and Portland Youth Wind Ensemble. She is the recipient of the 2008 DirectorÕs Choice Band Award, and has auditioned and been invited to play in the Districts and All-State Bands. She has volunteered her time with Peer Tutors, worked in Blood Drives, and performed in a recital to benefit the Damariscotta Baptist Church. Jennifer is a member of the National Honor Society and will be attending the University of New Hampshire, majoring in Music Education.
