John Ewing, of Portland, has worked for the Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram for 25 years following stints at newspapers in Biddeford and New Haven, Connecticut.

He has photographed a number of projects , including a series on Maine's Irish roots in Galway, Henry Thoreau's visits to Maine, the decline of the fishing industry in Newfoundland, and spent six weeks hiking the Appalachian Trail as part of a five newspaper project.
