Fred Field joined the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram staff as a part-timer in 2002.

He is a native of Lexington, Mass and a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse Schoool of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

Field has had assignments in Nevada, Arizona, California and Mississippi for the paper, but the bulk of his work occurs in Maine. "With 35,000 square miles and a coastline of unparalleled beauty Maine is a photographer's paradise," said Field. "Mainers are among the best and most interesting people on the planet."
