With those words almost a year ago today, we started on a fantastic voyage into local music, graffiti, zombies, video games, Rick Astley, mustaches, pirates and bacon.

The NXT Desk is ready to celebrate its first birthday.

So, things have been in a constant state of flux down here at Press Herald Plaza in the last week.

The NXT Desk did not go unaffected.

Look, we all know that sometimes this blog isn't just fun, games and endless hours of bacon talk.

Sometimes it's about work.

Today the NXT desk is paging a few people for help on a few things we're working on.

So I'm a day off on the decision over the fate of Le 'Stache. What can I say, I had a busy day down here at Press Herald Plaza, and I am only one man, people! One MAN!

It's been a long, scary and hairy two months. We've laughed, we've cried, we've gotten things stuck in embarassing places.

Yes, I'm talking about you Mustache.

Sometimes in the normal course of journalism, you need help. You need friends. You need people.

(No, I am not about to break into a rendition of People/Wind Beneath My Wings/Heartlight.)

There comes a pivotal point in most guys' lives where they have to decide - what am I going to do about my facial hair?

This typically happens after the whole Peter Brady voice squeaking and "hair where there was no hair before" embarrassments.

When it comes down to it, you're a clean-shaven guy, beard guy, or goatee guy, right?

But whatever happened to mustache guy?

I figured I'd try my best to distract all of the nation from Hilton Jail Watch Day 1 (or is it Day 2?) for as long as possible, which I suppose means as long as it takes you to read this blog.

It’s that special time in a young man’s life, when he can look back and reflect on what direction his choices have led him, or at least, count on people to buy him free drinks. Or cake. Cake is good.
