New Podcast: Celebrating Vinyl at Enterprise Records
Did you know this Saturday is National Record Store Day?
Seemed like a great opportunity to head down to talk records with the owner of Enterprise Records.
Bob Wirtz has been running Enterprise Records for more than 20 years, dealing in new and used, buying and selling records of all kinds. Though times - and the ways people get their music - have changed, vinyl has remained resilient, and so has Wirtz's business.
In this week's podcast we talked about what it's like running a record store on a daily basis, why there seems to be renewed interest in records and some of the surprises Wirtz finds in some of his used records.
It should be no surprise I was excited about this podcast, given my well documented love of records.
As always you can listen to the podcast in the player on the right, and don't forget we are on iTunes.
Music in this week's show comes from Highway Jackson's newest album "The Dirty Bar Campaign."
This weekend there will be plenty of Record Store Day action to take part in across the state.
Locally, Bull Moose Music will have giveaways and host live music. In the Portland store, This Way performs, while in Scarborough Ani DiFranco performs on Friday.
Over atNewbury Comics in South Portland, Covered in Bees and Brenda are scheduled to play, among others.

Vinyl is one of the remaining beautiful things from a pre-Twitter world.
I still prefer listening to Neil Young's "Decade" on vinyl, scratches and pops and all, to my pristine, perfect digitized CD version.
But then, that's just me, I guess.
Haven't been to Enterpise in a long while. Thanks for giving Bob props. I may have to make a Saturday record run.
