Monday Morning Fix: State of the State Theater, art thieves among us and the Topless Coffee Shop keeps giving
I'll take it as a given that plenty of you are home today, either thanks to the mercy of your boss, your school administrators, or just the smarts to stay off the road.
A captive audience. How wonderful. Let's look over some of the news you may have missed in the last 72 hours ... while you were shoveling.
State of the State: The State Theater's been closed for three years this month, so why write a column now? Because if you're anything like me, you've heard countless stories about the State and theories about when it will ever open. So it dawned on me, maybe what's needed is a campaign by people who care about the State's future.
Obviously there are some complications in there, the largest being the economy. As someone who works for a company up for sale, I can tell you it doesn't seem like there's a lot of money out there for big projects. And like I said in the column, warm fuzzies and tales of glory doesn't buy much. But isn't anyone else tired of referring to the State in the past tense, or just seeing it sit there?
