What was that? (Blogaversary Edition)

We laughed. We cried. We jammed to '80s hits. We ate copious amounts of jalapeņo poppers.

Thank you for coming out to the first Blogaversary and Meet-Up!

We had a decent sized crowd down at Dock Fore this weekend and honestly, all I can say to everyone who showed up was thanks for reading and thanks for being a part of the blogaversary!

We all got to meet some new people, talk about bacon, Star Wars, exploding cars, tiny dogs, Amy Winehouse, Van Halen and plenty of other things.

In case you couldn't make it, know that you missed out on a lot of eye patch action and fun.

Again, thanks to everyone!

Here's a few photos from the blogaversary. I think it turned out great and would love to do another if anyone has any suggestions!

Looks like a good time was had by all! Glad that the eye patches were put to good use. Good luck on year 2 of the blog.

I hope in all of this rehashing of the year in blog, that someone had the decency to mention the marimba ponies.

Let's do one in July ... once your two biggest fans from the Middle East are back in town!

(Also, not to be a punk, but I think you left an apostrophe out of "Patriots' Day". I think it's supposed to be the day of the Patriots. Which is kind of ironic, really, since the marathon and the Sox play on that day, and the football team doesn't ...)

Justin is a former newspaper intern and has the scar tissue to prove it. Justin has been a staff writer for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram since 2003, and in 2004 began writing a weekly column in the Monday Magazine.

If he had to pick a label, the column would fall under "youth culture," covering everything from high school dance etiquette, dealing with college debt, the resurgence of Roller Derby and Portland's one-of-a-kind music scene. This of course has not stopped him from answering letters to Santa Claus or writing about his experience riding shotgun in a drift car.

Justin is an export from the Midwest. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri and is originally from Minnesota. He enjoys bacon, cheap beer, redheads, Burt Reynolds jokes and wondering what the soundtrack to his life would sound like.

When he grows up he wants to be an international art thief. Or Captain America.

Until then he'll be bringing you dispatches about "the young people" and what they do.
