The Weekend: Something other than basketball, perhaps?
We're trying out a new experiment here on the NXT Desk - Twitter updates!
I'm out of pocket today, (as in, away from the office) but with all that is going on with the bracket-stravaganza and other goings on, I thought it would be a fun experiment.
We'll give it a try and see how things work out.
FRIDAY
- Jason Keith, Matty T and DJ Shade have ganged up for some dirty, dirty house music tonight at the White Heart tonight starting at 9 p.m. So dirty, and so free. If you recall a few weeks back Shade mentioned in Favorites he's dabbling in House music. On a similar note - Jason Keith was scheduled to be in Favorites this week, but obviously plans changed. We'll find a new place for Favorites soon, so don't worry.
- Meantone's upstairs at Amigos playing with Hotrod Fury. If you've never had a chance to see Meantone, you are missing out on a wild time. I've seen Meantone before, but after catching him do an outstanding (and hilarious) set with Mr. Samuel James a few weeks ago, I was sold. If you like your blues with a touch of gutter busting rock, perhaps you would be interested in seeing him. Show's up at 9.
- ALL AGES ALERT: The Cambiata leads the pack with kid.nap.kin, Loups and Daro at the Station tonight with doors opening at 8. As always, get there early if you want to actually see anything. Ticket's are $10.
SATURDAY
- Friend of the NXT Desk and Favorites feature Cursillistas is playing with Tempura, and Chriss Sutherland at the Meg Perry Center for an old school rent party to help raise money for the center and it's programs. Things get going tonight around 8. and the donation is what you can give, but they'd be happy with something between $5 - $10.
- Over at SPACE Gallery tonight rock reigns with the rising Indie powerhouse, Major Stars at SPACE with Cult Maze and Baltic Sea with doors at 9 p.m. Tickets are $7.
- What leads to longevity? I'd say consistency has to play a part. Tonight over at Geno's Pigboat is playing with Armstrong and Thrown From The Womb. This is on the same weekend that includes The Coffin Lids and The Throwaways on Friday night. Consistency. $5 to get in, show starts at 9 p.m.
Finally, the weekend video is an example of what happens when you have a little '90s nostalgia, some pop culture and decent spoof writing skills. Anybody remember "Where's Waldo?" Well Waldo remembers...he remembers everything. And now the man who can disappear into thin air and hide anywhere is coming home for revenge. Jason Bourne-style. (Note - the clip contains at least one unfriendly word, hence the linkage. Trust me, it's worth it.)
