Call your resident bracketologist

We're only days away from the beginning of the NCAA tournament...and I think you all know what that means.

Pseudo-gambling and college drama!

This is another daily reminder to sign up for the NXT Hoops Challenge and Bracket-stravaganza over at Yahoo! Sports.

It's free and if you're not a Yahoo! member it only takes a few minutes to sign up.

I've thought about it over the weekend and I will be offering a prize to the winner of the pool. Since I am a fiend for T-shirts (and a quick scan of the archives will confirm this), I think it's only fitting (no pun intended...maybe) that I whip up a design for the winner of the inaugural bracket-stravaganza.

(*Actual design may vary)

I'm still working on the concept, but fear not, I will have something in a few days. And don't worry, this won't be one size fits all, so ladies and fellas alike can count on something good...a one-of-a-kind NXT original. I'll also throw in a guest post to sweeten the pot and add to the trash-talk potential.

The deadline for the bracket-stravaganza is Thursday before the first game starts, which is typically around 11 a.m. EST.

So far we've only got five people signed up in the pool and one of them will walk away with braggin' rights and a glorious prize from the NXT Desk.

If you're unsure about who to go with, either trust your gut, pick on instinct, mascot or team color scheme. (I've seen people use all of those methods.)

You can also fall back on old-fashioned research.

There are any number of sources to get your bracket info including ESPN, CBS Sportsline and Fox Sports among others.

If you're looking for an interesting take I'd also check out blogs like The Fan House, The Big Lead and Deadspin.

Here's another tip: You can catch all the games online for free at NCAA.com but you have to sign up ahead of time.

What are you waiting for? Sign up already.

Justin is a former newspaper intern and has the scar tissue to prove it. Justin has been a staff writer for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram since 2003, and in 2004 began writing a weekly column in the Monday Magazine.

If he had to pick a label, the column would fall under "youth culture," covering everything from high school dance etiquette, dealing with college debt, the resurgence of Roller Derby and Portland's one-of-a-kind music scene. This of course has not stopped him from answering letters to Santa Claus or writing about his experience riding shotgun in a drift car.

Justin is an export from the Midwest. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri and is originally from Minnesota. He enjoys bacon, cheap beer, redheads, Burt Reynolds jokes and wondering what the soundtrack to his life would sound like.

When he grows up he wants to be an international art thief. Or Captain America.

Until then he'll be bringing you dispatches about "the young people" and what they do.
