Game it out
Thanks to the NXT network of spies (one could be sitting next to you right now and you would not even know it ... until it was too late) there's some interesting news on the local video gaming front.
Actually, I should say there's news on the videogaming/boozing it up front.
Two local bars have started hosting video game nights on some weeknights.
On Thursdays you can head over to The Stadium for Guitar Hero tournaments. That's right, the people who brought you a bucking mechanical wonder are now focusing on virtual rock.
For those of you who have been besting your friends on Expert level playing Heart's "Barracuda," have just found a new venue to test yourselves.
For those of you not familiar with the band simulator game (have you been trapped in a closet?) this could be your chance to see what its all about and give it a try.
Meanwhile on Tuesday nights, the new kid on the scene the Flask Lounge, host Nintento Wii tournaments.
Flask, formerly "Somewhere" and "Somewhere Else," has retooled and re-opened as something new. No word on what Wii-lights will be the line–up, but its not a stretch to guess bowling, tennis, boxing and golf.
There's a reason the Wii is all the hotness this holiday season, it's because everyone is able to find something to like about it.
So if you're anything like me and you find your drinking and your videogame time don't often mix (OK, that's not entirely true), or just want to go out and meet some friends who share your interests, this may be your chance.
AND NOW for something completely different...
Don't forget tonight is SPACE's fourth annual holiday craft sale. There are plenty of craft fairs and church basement sales this time of year, and everyone is always looking for the gift that says "I care enough not to get something packaged, predictable and boring."
You'll find goodies from local artists and designers such as port2portpress, Selflesh, Ferdinand, Bobbin Studio, Karen Gelardi, Small Victory Studios, among others.
The sale runs until 10 p.m.
