"I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany"

I just wanted to get in a short update today, and who better to celebrate than the man who has contributed nearly as many overused catch phrases to American society as Mike Myers.

Will Ferrell turns 40 today. Happy Birthday Ron Burgundy.

Here’s Cracked Magazine’s list of the 10 best Will Ferrell sketches from Saturday Night Live. Review and discuss.

To follow that up, here’s a clip reel of some of Ferrell’s best SNL bloopers.

That begs the question, again, which were his best. Here’s a few of my favorites:

- Neil Diamond’s Storytellers – You’ll never hear “Forever in Blue Jeans” the same again.

- The classic “More Cowbell” sketch Even though it’s been far too played out, it’s hard not to laugh when you watch it for three reasons: Jimmy Fallon nearly blowing the scene, “Never question Bruce Dickinson,” and of course, Ferrell (and his oh-so-tight choice of shirt.)

- I’m a big fan of his Robert Goulet impression. Though I could not find my absolutely favorite, I found this excellent appearance on "Late Night With Conan O’Brien."

This last year Ferrell, along with "Anchorman" director Adam McKay, made news when he help launch Funny or Die, a new comedy video website. He took a little heat for his first video "The Landlord" which involves a toddler spouting off some funny, but not age-appropriate words.

But it got attention, and for my money, the follow-up, "Good Cop, Baby Cop," is even funnier.
(*Note – both videos contain a few swears. All good natured of course.)

Goulet!

Thanks for the update, Justin. I'd not yet seen "Good Cop, Baby Cop" and it was just the afternoon kick that I needed. I'd say, "Stay classy," but I think we've all heard too much of that.

Justin is a former newspaper intern and has the scar tissue to prove it. Justin has been a staff writer for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram since 2003, and in 2004 began writing a weekly column in the Monday Magazine.

If he had to pick a label, the column would fall under "youth culture," covering everything from high school dance etiquette, dealing with college debt, the resurgence of Roller Derby and Portland's one-of-a-kind music scene. This of course has not stopped him from answering letters to Santa Claus or writing about his experience riding shotgun in a drift car.

Justin is an export from the Midwest. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri and is originally from Minnesota. He enjoys bacon, cheap beer, redheads, Burt Reynolds jokes and wondering what the soundtrack to his life would sound like.

When he grows up he wants to be an international art thief. Or Captain America.

Until then he'll be bringing you dispatches about "the young people" and what they do.
