Upon receipt all submissions will be screened for suitability and must be original material
Once screened, submissions will be posted online to pressherald.com/mainesummerrocks
By entering this contest, participants understand that all entries become the property of the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram
Published entries (in print and online) will include the name of person submitting entry
Voting
Judging to determine the top 4 entries in each category will take place by a panel of judges comprised of editorial, marketing and advertising staff of the Portland Press Herald
The top 4 entries in each category (photo and essay) will be published in the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram
The public may vote on the top 4 entries in each category beginning July 19
Voting ballots must be received by 1 p.m. on July 29
Official ballots will be published in the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram
Additional ballots can be obtained at the Welcome Center at 390 Congress Street, Portland
PHOTOCOPIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
Winners
Winning entries will be published in the Aug. 2 edition of the Maine Sunday Telegram
Contest winners will be notified on July 30

First-place photo and essay – 50 pounds of lobster (Three Sons Lobster and Fish)
Second-place photo – Sea Kayak instructional program, half-day tour (H 2 Outfitters)
Second-place essay – Scooter Tour of Portland or Brunswick (Scoot USA)
Third-place photo – VIP package for 4 to the Portland Sea Dogs
Third-place essay - $125 gift certificate to Maine’s Pantry
Additional rules
Winners are responsible for arranging delivery of prizes, and for local and state taxes, fees and similar payments if applicable.
In the case of a tie, winners will be determined by a panel of judges.
By entering, you give Portland Press Herald permission to use your name and likeness for promotional purposes. Please see our privacy policy for detailed information. Once submitted, all entries become property of Portland Press Herald and cannot be returned.
All entries are subject to verification and may be rejected for any reason.
The e-mail entry must be complete in order to qualify to win.

Participation in this contest constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official rules.

Portland Press Herald reserves the right to use the winners’ names, town of residence, photos and entry materials for contest promotion without consideration.

Decisions made by contest officials are final. Prize winners will be notified by e-mail or phone. There will be no other notification. Winner will have 24 hours to respond.
