A complex legal process governs their settlement in the U.S. and ensures that they get some help.

USAFVET.......thank you for the history lesson.
It's good that tScandinavian countries have accepted more. Just exactly did they do to support the war?
Support the end of rape rooms, Sadam, etc.
Why the heck is their own country not taking them in.
How many petro $$ do they have, now that Sadam is out of power.
And from a fellow Vet, if you are so in love with social services, and dislike this country that you allegedly served, move.report abuse

Joseph -- I noticed the same thing in California, where far more Vietnamese settled.
Here is yesterday's comment from that rabid left-wing journal, 'The Financial Times': "The Bush administration, on a false prospectus, broke the state of Iraq, scattered its middle classes across the middle east, proliferated jihadism and uncorked a sectarian war that will haunt the region for a long time to come. By invading Iraq it also made Iran a regional power." Anyone want to try to refute even one of those assertions?
"FT" does not mention Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, or the use of torture -- they have shamed us in the eyes of the world and have stained all of us -- particularly those of us who have, in the past, proudly worn the uniform. What the posters here don't recognize -- among other things -- is that the professional class in Iraq was driven out by our invasion. They are the doctors. And we can use them -- trained and intelligent people with qualifications that I'll bet Hearmeow or Anti can't come close to possessing.report abuse

I think about our company losing job was related to the fact that we cannot even keep OUR people employeed, let alone people from away! We suffer and they reap the benefits? Thats fair?report abuse

maybe if we didnt invade Iraq, there would be no refugees....hmmmmm interesting concept, eh?

Years ago in Boston there was simial controversy surrounding the influx of Vietnamese coming into Boston. But you know what? If you look at the honor rolls of all the schools it was all Vietnamese names. These kids took the opportunity and did well. Something to ponder.......report abuse

hearmenow--It seem the loss of your company's jobs are unrelated to the Iraqui's coming, but related to consolidating to increase efficiency They are a management decision that would have happened irregardless of any refuges coming here. so get mad if you want but place the responsibility where it belongs.report abuse

What a bunch of mean-spirited people you are! Hearmeow, I hope you don't breed here anymore than you have to. We destroyed Iraq -- with the support of the posters here (and I don't include any veterans sucked up into a partisan decision like the invasion of Iraq). And we cannot accept a modest number of refugees -- who cannot return to Iraq without getting killed? Don't you fools realize that we created a Shia theocracy in Iraq? And don't you recognize that the Scandinavian countries have accepted far more refugees than we have and that their social services are far superior to our own. The fact that our own social structures have collapsed in recent years is not the fault of the displaced Iraqis. I hope you fascists puke all day long.report abuse
