Lobster Bowl and the Shriners

If you read today's story on fundraising and the 19th Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl, you're probably wondering what exactly all that money goes towards.

The money goes towards the Shriners Hospitals for Children, a 22-hospital system that provides orthopaedic care, burn care, spinal-cord injury care and cleft palate care.

Brian Dumoulin, a former Biddeford High hockey standout, has been selected to play for Team USA's Under-18 select team, which will participate next month in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Dumoulin is one of 21 players on the Team USA roster. The 2008 Ivan Hlinka Tournament includes teams from Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

Rachel is in her fourth year as a sports reporter at the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. A Maryland native and a former college soccer and softball player, she covered high school and college sports at newspapers in Pennsylvania, Texas and Colorado before joining the Press Herald/Sunday Telegram staff in June of 2004.

She grew up watching the NHL, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Georgetown basketball and the Baltimore Orioles and is a confessed sports nut. Her interests include reading and movies, going to the gym, Motown and '70s R&B music and following the New York City tabloids.

Married in July, she and her husband Tommy are avid Steelers and Kansas Jayhawks fans. Their toughest decision as newlyweds has been "NESN or ESPN?"
