Maine completes football schedule

Maine football will open the season with a game in Orono against Division II St. Cloud State on Thursday Sept. 3.

Maine released its schedule today, with the added game. The program had been scrambling to find an 11th opponent after getting dropped by Florida State, and adding Syracuse earlier this winter.

2009 Maine Football Schedule:

Sept. 3 St. Cloud State
Sept. 12 at Northeastern
Sept. 19 at Albany
Sept. 26 at Syracuse
Oct. 3 Delaware
Oct. 10 at Hofstra
Oct. 17 Richmond
Oct. 24 Open Date
Oct. 31 Massachusetts
Nov. 7 at James Madison
Nov. 14 Rhode Island
Nov. 21 at New Hampshire

Hoops signing:

Six-foot-2 post player Corinne Wellington signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Maine next year.

Wellington, from Rochester, N.Y., averaged 21 points a game, 12 rebounds and five blocks for Wilson Magnet H.S. as a senior last year.
