700 wins

University of Southern Maine baseball Coach Ed Flaherty notched his 700th win when the Huskies beat Calvin College 21-5 on Wednesday to wrap up a 9-0 trip in Arizona.

Flaherty, a 1976 graduate of Maine, has an overall record of 700-302-3 at USM.

The Huskies are off to a pretty hot start, 11-1 overall, and have four players batting above .400 in the lineup.

Anthony D'Alfonso .462
Chris Burleson .460
Andrew Stacey .442
Mike Eaton .417

USM is scheduled to play a doubleheader at Eastern Connecticut on Saturday before opening at home on Tuesday against Bowdoin College at 3 p.m.

It is still unclear if playing conditions will allow the Huskies to open at home on Tuesday.

College.

She will continue to cover the
University of Maine Black Bears, the state's only division one program.
