NCAA D-III Hoops tourney

USM women: The 22-6 Huskies will make their 15th consecutive appearance with a 4 p.m. game Friday against Emmanuel College (21-7) at the campus of Amherst College in Amherst, Mass.

Bowdoin women: The Polar Bears (23-4) will make their 9th consecutive tournament appearance hosting a 7 p.m. game Friday against Castelton State College (17-11) in Brunswick.

UNE men: The Nor'easters (24-4) make their first ever NCAA Division III tournament appearance with a first round game against Farmingdale State College (23-4) at 8 p.m. Friday on the campus of Rhode Island College.

St. Joe's: The Monks (21-7, 12-6 GNAC) will open the tournament with a game at Bridgewater State College (20-6, 10-2 MASCAC) on Thursday at 7 p.m.

A former Portland Pirates beat writer who has covered two winter Olympics for the paper, Jenn will expand her beat this year to include the University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph's College, Bowdoin College, the University of New England, and Southern Maine Community
College.

She will continue to cover the
University of Maine Black Bears, the state's only division one program.
