Maine football No. 26

The Maine football team got 181 votes in the "Others receiving votes" section of the Sports Network FCS poll this week following a 55-7 win over Iona.

It's the clsoest Maine has been to the top-25 in at least two seasons.

Maine plays No. 13 UMass on Saturday, heads to Rhode Island Nov. 15 and ends the regular season with No. 8 New Hamsphire on Nov. 22.

Of Note:

Freshman tailback Pushaun Brown was named the CAA Football Rookie of the Week following a 136-yard rushing performance in Maine's win Saturday. Brown was the top performer behind a Black Bear rushing attack that gained 375 yards on the ground and scored six touchdowns.

A former Portland Pirates beat writer who has covered two winter Olympics for the paper, Jenn will expand her beat this year to include the University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph's College, Bowdoin College, the University of New England, and Southern Maine Community
College.
