Fluellen progress continues

ORONO -- Maine tailback Jhamal Fluellen is continuing to make progress after suffering a head injury Sept. 20 at Richmond.

Fluellen practiced Tuesday for the first time and wore upper pads Wednesday, bringing several smiles to the faces of his teammates.

"Oh yeah. And I had a big smile on my face," said Fluellen before practice on Thursday. "Everyone was real happy to see me off the sideline and out of coach/cheerleader mode."

It is unclear when exactly Fluellen will return to Maine's lineup, but he said he is feeling significantly better.

"It's up to the coaches now," said Fluellen. "Doctors didn't really know what to expect. It was my first time experiencing this type of pain."
