Fall standouts
Fall sports are in full swing at Maine's small colleges, so here's a little smattering of some athletes who are standing out already.
Bowdoin field hockey star Lindsay McNamara landed in SI.com for her prowess on the field. She is the all-time leading scorer in school history with 71 career goals.

At USM senior goalie Alison Bradley of Auckland, New Zealand has been named the Little East Conference Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week. She made 22 saves on her way to a 1-1 record with a 1.00 goals against average in the first two games of the season.
Gabby Cyr of Fort Kent and Tyler Jasud of Rumford have been named the Little East Conference Women's and Men's Cross Country Runners of the Week.
Cyr, who joined the team last fall, won the University of New England Cross Country Invitational in a time of 21 minutes, 5 seconds.
Jasud won the same meet at hilly, five-mile Rotary Park course in Biddeford, Maine in a time of 28:01 for his second win of the year.
At St. Joe's Andy LeConte of York has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.
LeConte was the Monks' top finisher in the Bowdoin College Invitational at the Brunswick Golf Club this weekend. He finished with a two-round score of 165 (83, 82) to place 29th overall at the event.
At UNE Matt Veiga has been chosen The Commonwealth Coast Conference Runner of the Week for the period ending Sept. 14.
Veiga, a sophomore from Lynn, Mass., finished fifth at the UNE Invitational on Saturday at Rotary Park, completing the 8,000-meter course in a time of 28:51.
Over at SMCC two former players will be inducted into the school's Hall of Fame Class for 2008 on Oct. 5.
