Spring football update

Maine's top three tailbacks will not dress for Saturday's spring football scrimmage.

Jhamal Fluellen, Jermaine Henderson, and Teron Allen are all recovering from offseason surgery.

That clears room for redshirt freshman Roosevelt Boone to get quite a few reps at TB.

  • DB Lionel Nixon Jr. is "nicked up" and won't be playing either.

    Watch for:

  • Backup QB Michael Brusko will get some reps at QB but will also line up as an inside receiver.

  • Former LB Jordan Stevens will debut at defensive end.


    Game: Jeff Cole Memorial Spring Scrimmage
    Where: Alfond Stadium
    When: 10 a.m. Saturday

    A former Portland Pirates beat writer who has covered two winter Olympics for the paper, Jenn will expand her beat this year to include the University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph's College, Bowdoin College, the University of New England, and Southern Maine Community
    College.

    She will continue to cover the
    University of Maine Black Bears, the state's only division one program.
