It's all over for Maine hockey
Maine beat UMass-Lowell with a dramatic 2-1 overtime win Saturday, completing a fifth win in six games.
It was, however, the last game of the 2007-08 season for Maine.
UMass beat Merrimack 4-2 for the final Hockey East playoff spot, mathematically eliminating Maine on the final night of the regular season.
Maine got a power play goal by Billy Ryan late in the first period and the winner 2:20 into OT by captain Travis Ramsey.

Maine finishes the season 13-18-3 overall, 9-15-3 in Hockey East.
It is the first time in program history that Maine has not qualified for the playoffs.
Maine was banned from competing in the playoffs in the 1996-97 season for NCAA violations.

See, this is exactly why Whitehead should stay. Did you see how that team played the last two weekends of the season?!? If the season was just 2 months longer (ok, maybe three), I firmly believe we would have made the Hockey East playoffs.
Can't wait for next year! What new lows can we hit?
