This is it

Maine hockey is in unfamiliar territory this weekend, needing at least three points, and a little help from Merrimack in order to qualify for the Hockey East playoffs.

The No. 9 Black Bears have 17 points, two behind No. 8 Massachusetts, and two more than No. 10 Merrimack.

Basically Maine needs at least three points - a win and tie against UMass-Lowell - and needs UMass to stumble against Merrimack.

Maine can't get too much help from Merrimack though....because a three-way tie would go to them.

Here's my story from today's edition which explains things further.

Oh, who am I kidding. This team has been rotten all year. From boobgate (Tanner House) to needing help from Merrimack (Merrimack!!) just to qualify for the Hockey East playoffs -- it's em-bear-assing.

Time to throw my support behind a real team. What is is that they say down in Durham? U-N-H! U-N-H!!
