Injury update: Hahn, Hopson

Maine coaches are hoping either Chris Hahn (broken jaw) or Keenan Hopson (shoulder) will be cleared to play by next weekend's series with New Hampshire.

Maine is off today. Both will practice in non-contact jersey's Wednesday and be re-evaluated.

Hahn has had some serious bad luck this year. He originally broke his finger back in December, returned to practice and took a puck in the jaw. He did not have to have his jaw wired shut, but it is broken.

"It wasn’t even hard. It was kind of a dump in scenario," said Maine Coach Tim Whitehead. "It was kind of a freaky accident. Unfortunately he’s had some tough luck."

Whitehead said there is little chance either could play this weekend at UMass-Lowell or Massachusetts.

"It's very unlikely that either will be cleared to play but we're hoping at the very least they can keep their cardio and legs going, stay in shape so there's a possibility to be cleared for the UNH series," said Whitehead.

Billy Ryan (hip) is also not practicing.

This is good news. We will desperately need these boys if we hope to compete with New Hampshire, who is running away with Hockey East. I'm just hoping we can keep the margin of defeat to less than six goals against UNH -- unlike the last time they came up to Orono.
