Maine hockey loses 4-2
Maine finished the weekend with a 4-2 loss to nationally ranked Boston College to follow a 3-3 tie Friday night.
Nathan Gerbe scored the game winner on a breakaway late in the second period to lead the Eagles to the win.
Maine (8-11-3, 4-8-3 Hockey East) never trailed by more than a goal all weekend until an empty netter in the third on Saturday.
Maine stacked up well physically against the Eagles but couldn't get the equalizer. Two players clanked the puck off the cross bar in the third.
The Black Bears got goals by Simon Danis-Pepin and Andrew Sweetland and 27 saves by goalie Ben Bishop.

Fellow Black Bear fans, let's not be too discouraged by another winless weekend at home. I just checked the standings; we have now passed Merrimack and are now ninth in Hockey East! Hooray! Cellar dwelers no more!
I'm pretty sure this weekend is just a preview of whats to come. We have UNH in two weeks; we need to get back at them for the 8-2, "taking us out behind the shed and bending us over a log" beating they gave us least year at home.
We will win the Hockey East tournament and march into the NCAA's.
