Bishop looking for 50

Ben Bishop is a win shy of some elite company at the University of Maine.

He needs just one more victory to reach 50 career wins at Maine, which would make him just the fifth Maine goalie in history to rack up that many.

He has a career record of 49-26-6 at Maine.

Garth Snow (66) Scott King (66), Blair Allison (62) and Alfie Michaud (60) all surpassed 50 wins at Maine.

Bishop is 7-9-2 this year, with a 2.65 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

Maine (7-10-2, 3-7-2 Hockey East) plays at Providence College Saturday at 7 p.m.

Just curious, but how many other of the goalies in the 50 win club were swept by Merrimack?

He is NOT in that club - not even close!! He was an after thought recruit because that idiot of a coach Whitehead didn't think that Jimmy Howard would leave school early (Hello Whitehead - here's your sign!!) so he scrambled around that summer and found this over-rated 7 foot should be back up goalie. How many D1 head of the bus goalies are available to recruit in the middle of June?? Exactly! None and that's how this clown landed in Orono. He couldn't make the team that those other goalies played on, read again - could not make the team! Jeff Nord was a far better goalie than this "watch your head" joker! Look him up - ground breaker for the program. Bishop and Garth Snow should never be mentioned in the same sentence.
You must get a real kick out of this season Jen, being a UNH grad, but we all know how this story ends as it's the same every year.
UNH will not win the last game of the season.......again.

If he's that overrated how come the Blues made him their 3rd round selection in 05? Don't tell me because hometown connection because no NHL team would do that in the 3rd round. Does he have consistency issues yes. What he did two years ago was simply amazing coming in as 18 year old freshman. This year the offense isn't there. You can't win without putting the puck into the net.

On recruiting Maine has always been able to find a gem. He verbally committed on 12/9/04 also according to this website (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pq-RP3oulY40pC8ceapOOKw)
