Stephen Cooper next Black Bear to face Patriots

Former Maine linebacker Stephen Cooper had a game-high 15 tackles in the San Diego Chargers 28-24 upset over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Cooper, who played at Maine from 1999-2002, will be the second former Black Bear in a week to try and upend the New England Patriots.

Montell Owens, who plays on special teams for the Jacksonville Jaguars, had three tackles in his team's loss to the Patriots on Saturday night.

A former Portland Pirates beat writer who has covered two winter Olympics for the paper, Jenn will expand her beat this year to include the University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph's College, Bowdoin College, the University of New England, and Southern Maine Community
College.

She will continue to cover the
University of Maine Black Bears, the state's only division one program.
