Losing Skid Ends with 5-5 Tie

Rob Bellamy scored with 59 seconds to play in regulation Sunday night, ending a four game losing streak for the University of Maine hockey team.

Maine could not convert in OT and tied Vermont 5-5.

Bellamy took a feed from freshman Andrew Sweetland who worked the puck behind the net as Maine attacked with six skaters for the game's final 1:12.

Said Maine Coach Tim Whitehead: “We definitely took a step tonight. We’re not where we need to be but the guys showed they were a team.”

Maine also got goals from Jeff Dimmen, Bret Tyler, Chris Hahn and Keenan Hopson.

After 12 games this season Maine sits in last place in Hockey East with a 2-4-2 league record, 4-6-2 overall.
