QB Prognosis; News n Notes

Football

Maine QB Adam Farkes is likely out for the weekend, and perhaps longer after leaving Saturday's game with a left shoulder injury. (His non-throwing arm)

Maine Coach Jack Cosgrove said Tuesday the long term prognosis for Farkes is still unclear.

"We know it’s not good. We don’t know how long. He’s certainly not practicing today or tomorrow," said Cosgrove. "If you don’t practice you’re probably not going to be able to play."

Former starter Michael Brusko led Maine to a 16-13 win. He engineering two touchdown drives, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter.

Also: DE Jovan Belcher was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week after his performance against Towson that included seven tackles, a forced fumble and a sack.

Women's Hoops

  • The Maine women were picked to finish seventh out of nine teams in the America East Preseason Coaches Poll released today.

  • No one from Maine was named to the Preseason All-Conference team.

  • Also: South Portland's Whitney Morrow has left the team for undisclosed personal reasons.
