Maine FB to the Pro Bowl?

Three former Maine football players are on the 2008 NFL Pro Bowl ballot.

Montell Owens, who led Maine in rushing in 2005, is one of 16 "special teamers."
Owens signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent following the 2006 NFL Draft. He's played in six games this year on special teams.

Stephen Cooper (Maine '02) of the San Diego Chargers is one of 16 finalists for inside linebacker.
Cooper, who has 51 tackles in seven games this year, is in the second year of a five-year $15 million contract with the Chargers.

Mike Flynn (Maine '96) of the Baltimore Ravens is among the 16 finalists at center. He's played in 125 career games for Baltimore.

The Pro Bowl will be held Feb. 10, 2008 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii and will be aired on FOX.

A former Portland Pirates beat writer who has covered two winter Olympics for the paper, Jenn will expand her beat this year to include the University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph's College, Bowdoin College, the University of New England, and Southern Maine Community
College.

She will continue to cover the
University of Maine Black Bears, the state's only division one program.
