Injury update: Donny Drake

DEERING High graduate Donny Drake is awaiting word on a possible stress fracture in his shin that could derail his senior cross country season at Maine.

Drake has had a tough year with injuries. An old baseball injury (ankle) caused a problem in his hip that killed training time this summer.

He came into the fall season behind schedule and was forced to focus on peaking at later meets.

If his current problem turns out to be a stress fracture, peaking at any time this year will be a longshot.

Because stress fractures are tough to diagnose Drake is seeking a second opinion on Tuesday.
