Are you ready for some Football

T-minus two days until the University of Maine football team opens the 2007 season at home against Monmouth (NEC).

No, they're not playing Nebraska or Mississippi State this year, but some interesting storylines have come out of preseason.

*Michael Brusko, a straight-shooter from Pennsylvania won the starting job at QB. He's a sophmore with experience in all 11 games last year.

*The defense, despite losing four key players, is being billed as the strength of the team again.

*We'll preview the game Saturday

What are your predictions on this team this year?

About this blog: I'd like it to become a daily stop on the web for UMaine followers - football, hockey, hoops and more. I'll try and update it daily and more often when possible with news and tidbits. When I become more tech savvy (it could be awhile) I'll upload photos, hyperlinks, and sound clips from interviews.

Feel free to share your feedback and thoughts or pitch story ideas.

If Brusko can bring it, the Black Bears could be a playoff team. If not, the conference strength might be too much for them to overcome. I see the Bears falling just short - a lot like last year.
