Eliminated

The Maine baseball team was locked out of the America East playoffs after losing three of four against Vermont this weekend. That ends the team's seven-year streak of reaching the postseason.

Maine needed to win at least three of four to stay alive, but instead lost Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 4-2 and 1-0. Maine split Sunday's doubleheader with a 16-5 win, 9-1 loss.

Maine (19-26-1, 7-13 AE) has one series left at Binghamton before the season ends.

Maine did not qualify for the playoffs. But Waters had a banner year, finishing the season leading Maine in almost every hitting category:

  • .352 batting average
  • .612 slugging percentage
  • .400 on base percentage
  • 33 runs scored
  • 58 hits
  • 11 doubles
  • 10 home runs
  • 101 total bases

And 30 RBIs (second in this category behind Terren Hall, who had 31)

Her 58 hits, 10 home runs and 101 total bases were tops in America East.

Here is a feature on Waters that ran last week.
