The Campaign Fix: Race and The Race, Maine's Republicans, winners and losers

That image pretty much sums up the main point in my column in today's paper.
Moving on to our election round-up:
Turn the light out when you leave: When it's over, it's really over. To wrap up the 1st District race yesterday I went to Charlie Summers' headquarters for his official concession speech and in the space of one day it looked like they had cleared out of the office fast. All the signs, campaign swag and other equipment was boxed up or altogether gone. When it was all over I shook Summers' hand and he was off with Ruth in their SUV with a trailer in tow. Even he had to make a "we look like the Beverly Hillbillies" joke.
Dancing in the Streets: Videos are already starting to pop up of the impromptu Obama-bration that took place in Portland's Monument Square early Wednesday morning. One of our photographers happened on it while leaving the newsroom and and managed to shoot some video. Here's one of many on YouTube.
More on the Hologram: I still can't get over CNN's Hologram tech on election night. I think the best line I've seen about that is "Help me Wolf Blitzer, you're my only hope!" While the network is not giving out the cost of the stunt, it sounds like a pretty elaborate set-up when a camera works fine.
Snowe and Collins hold the Power? Once again Maine is getting the spotlight for its Republican senators. Just like when Democrats took back the majority in 2006, some say moderates such as Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe will hold critical votes.
The Bigger Picture: I've mentioned this blog before over on NXT, but The Boston Globe's Big Picture is a great oversized photo blog. They've collected some photos and called it "The Next President of the United States."
And the First Puppy is: In case you were wondering cabinet speculation is not the only thing surrounding Obama. Sources say Malia Obama is gunning for a Goldendoodle. I don't know what that is.
Winners/Losers: Politicker ME bravely made predictions in the Maine Legislative races, and now tallies up the winners and losers. They nailed it with just a few exceptions.
Reaction around Maine: Found a couple of blogs about Mainers going out to vote and reflections on voting and sharing their thoughts about the outcomes of Maine races.
Do it all Again: And remember you can re-live election night (kinda) by checking out The Live From Press Herald Plaza post from Tuesday.
