The Campaign Fix: How are the candidates ending the race?
It is FINALLY the last day of campaigning in Election 2008. And while tomorrow is the day that really counts, the campaigns are working sunrise to sunset to try and get every last vote possible.

SENATE
- Republican Susan Collins started her day in Bangor and her campaign says she plans to spend a good portion of today in Aroostock County on her bus. Her campaign blog has early video of her taking off for The County. Tomorrow Collins will be taking the bus back down I-95 and will hit stops along the way before reaching Portland for election returns. On Election Day Collins is holding an event at the Eastland Park Hotel.
- Democratic Congressman Tom Allen is also bisecting the state today, starting this morning in Biddeford and stopping to work with volunteers at a phone bank in Portland before heading to Waterville for more get out the vote efforts. On election day Allen, his family and supporters will be out across the state to meet and greet voters. Online Allen is linking up to the state Democratic party's "GOTV" efforts and directing people to ways they can help. Allen's Election Day event is at the Wyndham Hotel in South Portland.
FIRST DISTRICT
- Democrat Chellie Pingree has been in coastal Maine for a good portion of the day according to her campaign. Pingree started her day greeting workers at Bath Iron Works in Bath and met voters at Rock City Books in Rockland, where her staff says she started her campaign last year. On her campaign blog Pingree looks at where she's been today and how her busy schedule will work out today. Pingree is throwing an Election Day event at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland.
- Republican Charlie Summers has mainly been in southern Maine today, meeting voters at restaurants in Biddeford, Saco and Becky's Diner in Portland, among others. His campaign says he'll continue to be out meeting voters at stores and other establishments for the the rest of the day. Even as the campaign in the 1st District has intensified, Summers has persistently kept up his 30 Jobs plan in order to connect with Mainers in the workplace. Finally, a few interesting bits from the partisans - As Maine Goes has a long discussion thread on whether Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has helped or hurt the GOP ticket. And on Turn Maine Blue they've opened up a betting pool on deciding the outcome of the election.
