Video: Sixth Graders Boost Youth Vote
Anyone who has been cornered and guilted into buying Girl Scout cookies or anything for a school fundraiser knows it's hard to say no to a little kid.
So how do you brush off a kid asking if you've done your patriotic duty?
Some of you may have seen the link off the home page to this video I produced on a group of sixth graders from King Middle School doing voter registration at the University of Southern Maine Portland campus.
The students were working with the Maine Public Interest Research Group or PIRG, to whip up new voter registration among college students.
Interestingly enough, USM is one of many schools across the country involved in a contest to register as many new voters as possible. Among other prizes, winning schools and students will get a concert by the band Death Cab for Cutie, or scholarship money.
