May 12-18 congressional race calendar

Over the last couple of months, I've been using this blog to track candidates' public appearances in the 1st Congressional District race. There are eight candidates in the race, and with primary election scheduled for June 10, the weekly calendar is becoming hard to manage.

So for the last four weeks of the campaign, I'm going to use this blog only to track forums and debates where more than one of the candidates is scheduled to appear. Most of the campaigns have additional information about their own candidates' appearance on their Web sites.

That said, here's what on tap this week:

Monday, May 12

6:30-9:30 p.m., Republicans Charlie Summers and Dean Scontras join Democrats Chellie Pingree, Steve Meister, Mark Lawrence and Adam Cote at a candidates' night hosted by the Veterans Housing Coalition of Maine, Maine Veterans Home, 290 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough.

Tuesday, May 13

3:30 p.m., Democrats Michael Brennan, Adam Cote, Mark Lawrence, Chellie Pingree and Ethan Strimling participate in a candidate forum at the Piper Shores Retirement Community, 15 Piper Rd., Scarborough. This event is only open to Piper Shores residents.

6 p.m., Democrats Chellie Pingree, Ethan Strimling, Steve Meister, Michael Brennan and Adam Cote join Republicans Charlie Summers and Dean Scontras at a candidate forum sponsored by the Maine Medical Association, 30 Association Dr., Manchester. This event is open only to members of the Maine Medical Association and their guests.

Thursday, May 15

6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Democrats Michael Brennan, Adam Cote, Mark Lawrence, Steve Meister and Ethan Strimling attend a candidate greeting hosted by the Cape Elizabeth Democrats, 12 Waumbek Rd., Cape Elizabeth.

Saturday, May 17

5-8:30 p.m., Democrats Michael Brennan and Chellie Pingree attend the Harry S Truman Awards Dinner, hosted by the Portland Democratic City Committee, East End Community School, 192 North St., Portland.

Sunday, May 18

6-9 p.m., Democrats Chellie Pingree, Mark Lawrence and Michael Brennan attend the Midcoast candidate's debate, Bath Middle School, 6 Old Brunswick Rd.
