March 24-30 congressional race calendar

There are a slew of opportunities this week to meet the First District congressional candidates. Most notable is a Wednesday night debate in Portland, which is being sponsored by the League of Young Voters. We're planning coverage of the debate for Thursday's Press Herald.

Tuesday, March 25

7 p.m., Dean Scontras attends a town hall event at Gardiner Middle School, 161 Cobbossee Ave., Gardiner.

Wednesday, March 26

6:30-8:30 p.m., Michael Brennan, Adam Cote, Mark Lawrence, Steve Meister, Chellie Pingree, Dean Scontras, Ethan Strimling, and a representative from Charlie Summers' campaign are expected to participate in a debate sponsored by the League of Young Voters, Space Gallery, 538 Congress St., Portland.

Thursday, March 27

5:30 p.m., Adam Cote attends a campaign house party in Kennebunk hosted by Tim and Marcia Hussey and Rick and Patricia Dempsey. For more information call 347-3103.

5:30 p.m., Chellie Pingree attends a campaign house party with Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL, at the home of Ken Spirer and Joan Leitzer, 18 Neal St., Portland.

6:30 p.m., Mark Lawrence attends a campaign house party at the home of Greg Brown, 9 Wood Island Ln., Georgetown.

Saturday, March 29

Dean Scontras attends the China Town Meeting, 9 a.m.; the Farmingdale Town Meeting, 1 p.m.; and meets with voters in Hallowell, 3 p.m. For more information call 432-2877.

10 a.m., Michael Brennan attends a campaign house party at the home of John Shoos and Lisa Merchant, 83 Goudy St., South Portland. Call 773-1323 to RSVP.

11 a.m., Adam Cote attends a campaign house party in Springvale. For more information call 347-3103.

5 p.m., Ethan Strimling attends a campaign house party at the home of Mark and Cheryl Dion, 45 Allison Ave., Portland.

6 p.m., Adam Cote attends a campaign house party in Cape Elizabeth hosted by Jessie Timberlake. For more information call 347-3103.

6:00 p.m., Mark Lawrence attends a campaign house party at the home of Anne Carney, 21 Angell Point Rd., Cape Elizabeth.

Sunday, March 30

11:00 a.m., Chellie Pingree attends a campaign house party hosted by the Wilks, 28 Mountain View Rd., Sebago.

Noon, Ethan Strimling attends a campaign house party at the home of Kate and Colin Snyder, 31 Kenwood St., Portland.

3:30 p.m., Ethan Strimling attends a campaign house party at the home of Margie and Randy Forrester, 178 Clarks Mills Road, Dayton.

6:30-9:30 p.m., Michael Brennan, Mark Lawrence, Chellie Pingree and Dean Scontras attend a candidate forum at the Friends Church, Route 202, across the street from the Windham public safety building, Windham. For more information call 892-4672.
