There's nothing like a good night race. It typically leads to getting together with friends and having a few pops -- although we didn't need a race last weekend to get together. I wish I could tell you all about the redneck ways of your trusty blogger from last weekend but it would give you a visual that you just don't need. I'm not even really sure if some sort of law was broken or not with what we did. Here's a couple hints: a school bus, drinking, dancing ... did I mention the school bus? Fun times.
It doesn't appear that the weather will be an issue at all. Qualifying is scheduled for tonight at 7 pm on SPEED.
NASCAR Newscast: SUBWAY Fresh Fit 500 Preview:
I'm going out on a limb and picking Clint Bowyer to win this weekend. Yeah, I know, I've said that I would never pick him because I feel like when I do, I am jinxing him but...
He had a second-place finish here last year at this time and a twelfth-place finish in November. Naturally, Jimmie Johnson would be the safer pick as he swept both races last year but Bowyer is having such a solid run this year. This could be his weekend.
Here's hoping that Scott Speed makes the race. He's my Rookie of the Year pick.
According to the locals here in Alaska this week, Jen, there is nothing strange about your activities last weekend. I have to go with Stewart this week. He has run in Phoenix in every type of car possible. He can win this weekend.
Now I wonder what they do in Alaska for fun? Any Nascar fans up there, son of?
I'll pick Tony also. He's due for a win. I was going to pick somebody else, but that driver was in the Nationwide last night and did not do as well as I thought he should have.

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
