This week felt like it dragged on and on. I'm so glad that we're finally heading into the weekend.
I don't think the weather should be an issue for qualifying today, which is scheduled for 4:30 pm on SPEED. Click here for the complete broadcast schedule for the weekend.
Here's the NASCAR Newscast: Samsung 500 Preview:
I'm going to play it safe with my pick to win this weekend. It worked for me last week so I'm going to do the same this week. My pick to win is Carl Edwards. He swept both races here last year. I think he can pull off a threepeat.
Even though Edwards is my official pick, I'd like to see Kevin Harvick get the win. He looks so darn cute in a cowboy hat. The picture above is from his win here at Texas in the Nationwide Series race, November 2007.
Here are a couple things that I will be watching for on Sunday, in no particular order:
-- Clint Bowyer
-- I always watch rookies, Scott Speed and Joey Logano. I picked Speed for rookie of the year at the beginning of the season and I keep hoping one of these races Speed will finish ahead of Logano to reign him in on points...
-- How many laps into the race Michael Waltrip or Sam Hornish Jr. wreck.
-- If Sam Hornish Jr. or Michael Waltrip are the ones who bring out the first caution.
What else...what else... I can't really think of anything else right now, I guess.
Let's hope it's not a boring race. What will you be watching for and who's your pick to win?
I'm not sure that I'm with you, Jen. I think this is Mikey's weekend. Yeah, I know his history at Texas is not very good, but look at his finishes at similar tracks. I mean, even a broken clock is right twice a day. I pick Waltrip.
I was hoping this would be brought up sooner. Did anyone catch the truck race on Monday? What do you think of the penalty against Kyle Busch at the green/white/checker?

About this blog:
I am hopeful that this will be a place where people can air their two cents' worth about a race, catch up on the gossip and share their opinions on the rules and regulations of NASCAR. I have always felt that there has been a need for such a place in Maine and that this blog helps to fill the void.
