Texas thoughts

Carl Edwards is closing the gap in the point standings between he and Jimmie Johnson. Congrats to Edwards for his win yesterday.
Here are a few random observations of the race:
-- I've been really impressed with Jamie McMurray these last few weeks. He's been right up there in the top five.
-- Did you notice how many empty seats there were during the race? Wow.
-- This was turning out to be quite the boring race. I was grateful for the first debris caution as I was falling asleep. As we all know, cautions breed cautions and that was the case yesterday after that first caution was thrown.

-- Two weeks in a row that Juan Pablo Montoya has been a top-ten car and had bad luck. This time, it was an intentional wreck by David Gilliland who was a cry baby about JPM's bump on the track a lap earlier. So Gilliland took him out. I'm glad NASCAR parked Gilliland for the remainder of the race. They should consider doing so this coming weekend as well.
-- Dale Earnhardt Jr. looked as thought he was going to have a top-ten finish but ran out of gas and wound up in 20th place.
-- A solid run by Clint Bowyer all day long. He finished fourth.
-- The biggest loser in the point standings was Kevin Harvick who fell two positions in the standings to seventh, while Kyle Busch gained two spots, moving up to tenth place.
What did you think of the race? Any observations you would like to share?

I think Juan Pablo Montoya and Caesar the Dog Whisperer are brothers.

Darryl Waltrip. I boogied over and caught your comment, which I had missed. You didn't predict the six winners on this blog. Where did you predict them? I keep track of the predictions and no one on this blog has chosen the winner more than twice this year. I wish you would share your predictions with us every week, Mr. Waltrip. I didn't realize we had such illustrious company.

Your correct, it’s wasn’t on this blog, I never said it was on this blog. You didn’t realize it because your too busy playing the know it all most of the time. Didn’t you quit the blog once already??

I acknowledge your comments and choose to get back to blogging about Nascar. I DID leave once before because of people like you who stray from the purpose of this blog-to have fun- and like to put down others. I had the good sense to come back and made some new friends. I don't know a lot about Nascar and depend on some of these bloggers to inform me. I try to have fun with it, but unfortunately there are a few who make it uncomfortable for some of us. I think only someone close to this blog would know that I left. Enough said. Please don't continue this slamming. I only want to talk Nascar. Thank you.

Interesting race this past weekend. Obviously, Jimmie ran out of luck this time. I am not a Carl Edwards fan, but it was impressive to see him run 68 laps on a fuel run to win. It added the drama that this Chase has been missing.
Also, is anyone willing to talk about the need for a change with the #88 team? Jr. runs hard each week, but overdrives at times and Eury makes the wrong calls from the Pit Box. I am curious as to how Rick Hendrick will shake things up during the offseason. It is unacceptable to run out of gas with 5 laps to go. In my opinion, they are their own worst enemy.

Earnhardt, Jr.November 4, 2008 08:19 AM
I expect there will be some changes,Jr., but I doubt if Rick will break up the Eury-Earnhardt duo. You might want to consider that all of these crew chiefs have hardly any past data to help them. The COT has no history. And then there has been the Badyear tire mess.
I expect you will see a better team next year. Rick will have them all working towards that. What do you think?

Hey, DW, I have 6 wins also in one of my leagues. I'll challenge you to see who can get another win before the end of the season. Let me know if your pick is different than what you predict here and I will do the same by Sunday morning.

Racefan, sounds good. I have 6 in my pool at work.
Earnhardt Jr, beware of JR Nation..... but as past blogging shows, alot of us feel the same.

Tony Eury, Jr and Dale Jr are not the only ones who can't quite get a handle on the COT. Give them both a little credit for being consistent enough to be one of the 12 best teams for the year and don't give up on them yet. Let's see what next season brings.

I think stating that Gilliland was being a crybaby about the earlier contact. Is overstating things.
Every car on the track has an equal right to be there. They all paid the same entry fee.
Let's not forger the fact that had JPM not started this deal. He wouldn't have been wrecked.
If you're faster than another car then pass them. They have no obligation to pull over for you. This was a premeditated act by JPM. Discussed with his spotter before he roughed up Gilliland.
While I don't condone wrecking someone at these speeds. I also don't thing this incident should ever have been started.
My biggest complaint is DG's interview. If you jack some one on purpose, be man enough to say so!

If I'm not mistaken, JPM said that Gilliland slid up in front of him first. There is a huge difference between bumping a guy and doing what Gilliland did. A driver in his position with sponsors and performance should know better.
I can't blame Jr's problems on the COT. He is up front every week and between Eury and himself, they find a way to blow it. Someone is making bad calls somewhere. Maybe Jr should sit on the pitbox and Eury should drive?

Got any extra change in your pockets? JJ Yeley's car sponsorship is up for bid on Ebay. First $12 million takes it. Only 12 days left.
