Finally, I'm a winner!
I did it! I won, I won! I feel as though I just won the lottery. I have a bit of a spring in my step and the smile on my face is a little bigger today. I finally picked the winner of a race. After going 0-for-22 to start the 2008 season, my losing streak is history!
In my head, I envisioned doing a backflip off the coffee table at the same time that Carl Edwards did after his victory... I'm so proud.
Congrats to Edwards for his win yesterday. I may have a new hero...kidding, just kidding. No worries Clint, your #1 stalker, oops I mean fan, isn't going anywhere...
I'll be honest. I slept through some of the race. I was recovering from my girl's getaway. But here are a few thoughts of the race:
-- It really rubs me wrong that they would call Kyle Busch the Michael Phelps of motor sports. Ridiculous right there. Not to mention Joe Gibbs Racing just got caught for cheating! I don't care that the cheating was only found in the Nationwide series. In my opinion, it's just a matter of time before they find out that something is illegal in the Sprint Cup series cars also.
Side story--
Speaking of Michael Phelps, I was at a bar on Saturday night. A band called The Hangovers were playing, actually a pretty good band. But when Phelps was getting ready to do the swim for his 8th gold medal, more and more people stopped paying attention to the band and started watching the television. When the race started, most everyone in the bar was focused on the television set and chanting, "USA, USA, USA...!" The chants were louder than the band. It was just awesome to see how everyone was really rooting for him.
Back to racing--
-- Marcus Ambrose and Denny Hamlin both had the same bad luck, their cars blew up.
-- Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne and Denny Hamlin all took a major hits in the point standings after yesterday's race.
-- I'm not sure what happened to Jeff Gordon though. Anyone care to share?
-- Do you stand up, in your living room or wherever you are watching a race, when the National Anthem is being played on television? Odd question, I know, but it dawned on me yesterday at the start of the race.
All for now.

Congratulations Jen! Even a broken clock is right twice a day:)
So Jeff Gordon...I believe that he made contact with Johnson, cut a tire, hit the wall, fixed his car, and cut another tire. That sums it up.
The Gibbs teams did not cheat. The magnets were placed after the race. If Nascar approves a motor, where do they get off limiting horsepower to certain teams? Maybe they should look at Carl Edwards' engine.

Explain to me why comparing Busch to Phelps is ridiculous. Both are incredibly talented and tops in their chosen sport.
The magnets were not in the cars during the race so calling JGR cheaters is a big stretch. Changing the horsepower during the season is just as wrong. Nascar had ample opportunity to dyno and check the cars during the off season. It's the same deal as the COT and the Goodyear tires. They are testing during the race season using the fans' ticket dollars and the teams' time and money. That's not right.
Carl Edwards was already caught with the oil cover issue, remember? Lost ten Chase points. And that was during a race. I really hate pointing a finger at the drivers because they most likely have no idea all these tricks the set up guys know and stuff is done without their knowledge, but they are the ones who pay when points are taken away. Nascar needs a different policy there.
Jeff had a couple of bad pit stops, got sideswiped by Johnson and hit the wall after a tire blew. It was one of those days that started off on a wrong roll and just kept on going. He was also accused by the media of being a trouble maker because of comments he made about Kyle losing momentum.
A friend of mine usually listens to Tony's incar audio, but said she ended up listening more to Jr as he was quite vocal and his language was very colorful. What they played on tv may have been the only piece that didn't need to be edited. Not a good day all around for HMS.
Has Ricky Craven been hired by ESPN?
From Jen: OH come on racefan... If they weren't doing anything wrong, why then would they be putting magnets on the gas pedals in the first place? I know. Because they are cheaters. Period. And they race what, 36 weeks out of the year? Ample opportunity for testing and making revisions to HP? I don't think so.
Hhhmmm... I don't know about Ricky Craven.

JGR didn't win, so I guess they didn't have that much of an advantage.
There is a theory going around that Jack Roush put the magnets there. LOL!!

I am off to Bristol so I will make my pick early. I'm going with Kyle. He's wild enough to win.
From Jen: Have a blast! Travel safely and let us know about your trip when you return.

for starters, I get a kick out of everyone getting worked up when someone brings up cheating. Gray area; bending the rules; misinterpertation of the policy, its all cheating, and they are all doing it. Just as sure as they turn left every week. Getting caught attempting to cheat and getting caught after you cheat, its all cheating. Please dont be so blind, everybody, drivers included,on the teams knows whats going on. The drivers and owners get to play the innocent part so the sponsors dont look like idiots.
