Thanks for coming to Maine, Kevin Harvick
I forget just how much fun it is to attend a race at Oxford Plains Speedway. I enjoy watching crews work on their race cars. I think I could spend most of the day just people watching actually.

I was glad to see Kevin Harvick win the race. He was a class act all weekend. He was most accepting of everyone wanting an autograph. He seemed really relaxed and at ease all weekend. People were dragging him here and there having him sign things -- someone even had him sign her foot, and posing for numerous pictures. He never gave any indication that it was bothering him. I think he sincerely enjoyed the weekend, despite the rain.
Delana Harvick was around for the weekend also but I never saw her. I heard she spent some time in Boston shopping. Apparently during the race she was in the grandstands in the pit area watching the race. I didn't see her though. Did you?
The racing was fantastic. Harvick put on a good show. For the first half of the race, he was stuck behind Carey Martin for quite a while. Harvick had the faster car and was nudging him. Martin didn't like it. During a caution, Harvick went to go on the outside of Martin, and Martin blocked him. Harvick went to the inside and Martin dove down low and blocked him again. Harvick finally pulled up beside and him told him he was "number one." Great stuff.
He had a dominating car and deserved the win. What did you think of the racing at OPS?
Here's a slideshow of all the pictures that I took Sunday and Monday.

The planning to be very competitive at the 250 started months ago for Harvick. I'm glad to see a Cup driver win. It's always good to see a racing record made. Glad also you got rid of that ugly stock picture of him. He's a good looking guy with a great smile.
The drivers are almost always friendly. I have only met one exception. I won't say who, but he is a.k.a "Hair".

I have been thinking about the 250 and the difference in Cup driver styles.
Harvick did a lot of planning. He asked for the specs to build the right car to bring to Oxford, had it tested, and won.
Kyle Busch went to Lee Speedway at the last minute, jumped in a car he was not used to, qualified it, and then during the race he proceeded to blow the doors off everyone. Unfortunately, after he won, he was assessed a two lap penalty and they took the win away.

Racefan, really, get a clue. What are you talking about Kyle Busch going to Lee last minute? He went to Star in June 2007 and blew everybody away. It wasn't last minute though. As a matter of fact, Kyle owns his own PASS team. Sometimes the things you spew here are so far from the truth it's not even funny.

SJH: Please explain about Lee and Star and Kyle Busch. You owe that to us if you are going to make accusations. Thanks.

Racefan is clearly trying, in her typically uneducated but know-it-all way, to say that Kyle Busch just shows up at race tracks and hops in any old car someone will give him and somehow that makes him less than Kevin Harvick because Harvick won the Oxford 250 with a car he had built. And as usual, it's a bad comparison. You want to compare Harvick to Matt Kenseth or another Cup robot who just shows up at appearances fine, but don't compare him to Kyle Busch, who happens to own his own Super Late Model team and also happens to wing around the country going to test in that car. Yes, Kyle Busch went to a PASS race last year and got DQ'ed. It was at Star Speedway, not Lee.

Dont compare Harvick to Busch because Busch owns his own team? I seem to recall an organization called Kevin Harvick Inc where Harvick owns a Nationwide team, 2 truck teams AND the team he drove for at Oxford.

I believe Harvick also fields cars in the Winston West series.

Harvick and Busch are very much the same as they will both jump in ANY vehicle and drive the wheels off from it.
I trust that if anyone sees any inaccurate information being posted, that they corrrect it for us rather than run someone down for trying to provide us all with some facts and updates. Last I checked, we were not seeing posts directly from Nascar or Pass, so we try to rely on the kindness of FRIENDLY bloggers to keep us informed. With some of the responses on here of late, I just might start getting information elsewhere.
