Stewart leaving JGR after this year

From what I have been reading on ESPN and the The Charlotte Observer, Tony Stewart is going to be released from Joe Gibbs Racing after the completion of this year. The formal announcement should come at some point tomorrow.
It looks as though he will own 50 percent stake of Haas CNC Racing in 2009, which will then be renamed to Stewart Haas Racing. The current car numbers, 66 and 70 may change for next year as well. Ryan Newman is a lead candidate to drive one of the cars but that hasn't been confirmed yet. It looks as though Home Depot will not be following and he will have Office Depot for a main sponsor.
I honestly just don't know what to think of this move. I don't know why he just doesn't stay put. He's already crabby to the media and now he's going to drive and be part owner? Should be loads of fun.
What do you think of this change?

That's been his history--win a championship and move on. He apparently likes a challenge. He's only crabby to media people when they ask for it.
I'll bet he gets another championship with his new team although I don't think much of Ryan Newman as a driver if that is who he chooses.

Anything that will change his luck, I guess. It appears he wants to be an owner, so this is a first step. Leaving Gibbs is risky, but we all have to venture out at some point. It is very important who drives with him. I am not so sure Newman is a good choice.

He's planning for his future. He is pushing 40, and we all know how much demand there is for older drivers. He also has not been happy driving Toyotas. He's a Chevy guy. I'll bet Chevrolet pulls out all the stops to get him top notch equipment. That and with Hendrick motors, he'll be competitive. It will be fun to watch.
Glad I got that Home Depot autograph when I did.

Planning for his future? Get a clue. Hilarious. Because that worked out so well for Brett Bodine, Darrell Waltrip, Ricky Rudd . . . and is currently working out so wonderfully for Kyle Petty, Michael Waltrip and Robby Gordon? Owner/driver doesn't work in today's NASCAR world. Tony will be back racing for an established team by 2012, right after his operation goes belly up.
